Loyal followers already know, but our label news and updates transitioned over to our Web Store platform earlier this year.  We were double-posting (here and the Web Store) in January so folks could get accustomed to the fresh spot for all the exciting happenings in the world of SLN. Starting now, all label news and updates will be found in the Label News section of our Web Store exclusively.  This site will remain up as a legacy of our activity from 2011-2020.  Who knows, maybe we'll find other stuff to do with it too!  Send suggestions if ya like.  We'll of course be keeping up with all the socials still.  Thanks for following us here and see ya at the new place!

Y'all just got dunked on!  The debut album from despAIR jordan, “Before Your Wings Gave Out” is officially out now. The album features 6 songs of well-crafted, angular post-punk.  It definitely runs as a long player with each song being a mini saga full of energy and emotion.  despAIR Jordan may be a new band, but they are already masters at their craft, blending elements of late 70’s/early 80’s UK post-punk with the modern pop-sensibilities of more recent post-punk and post-hardcore acts. You can order the digital long player in our Web Store HERE, as well as on our bandcampHERE. It’s also streaming on all the usual spots. If “Before Your Wings Gave Out” is what the band can bring on their first effort, imagine where they’ll go from here!

State Drugs Wants To Share The Love!

Wanna know what’s sweet?!  A new album from State Drugs!  “Live. Laugh. Love.” is set for release on Valentine’s Day, 2/14/21. Whether or not you’re a fan of the so-called “holiday”, ya gotta love new music from a great band!  State Drugs is a band from Denver, CO that try their best to make catchy yet refined songs, like the kind they would have listened to 20 years ago. "It’s like the Gin Blossoms if only Dave Lombardo played drums" said some drunk passerby one time.  Slowly birthed at the end of 2015-early 2016 from fragments of songs hibernating on a hard drive, State Drugs released 3 EP's before partnering with ours truly and Toxic Pop Records to release a collections LP titled "Takings and Leaving" in 2019.  Now, the band is set to unleash their new LP, "Live. Laugh. Love.", which we are releasing in partnership with Ashtray Monument Records. SLN-201 Is Here To Begin The 2021 Release Schedule!

The new digital single from Scooter James, "Way Too Heavy b/w Felt The Sun", is out now!  It's a nuanced entry into the expansive catalog of one of Colorado's most storied songwriters. Two cool tunes delivered in the stripped back approach that Scooter has been utilizing the last few years. These songs are not the more straightforward acoustic style that lots of punk singers come to when they want to lay back, but are diverse and ethereal pieces that push and pull while still being anchored by an acoustic guitar and warm voice.  It's the evolution of your favorite hardcore troubadour, Scooter James.  You can download the full digital single from our Web Store HERE or from out bandcamp HERE.  It can also be found on all your favorite digitized/streamitized services.  Thanks for joining us for another year packed full of great music!

Empty Palace "Secret Names" Coming Soon! Pre-Order Is Up Now!

 

Empty Palace has returned and is ready to take over 2021! Scooter James Is Hopping In As The First Offical Release Of 2021!

Our old pal Scooter James is out of the gates early in 2021. His new digital single, "Way Too Heavy b/w Felt The Sun" will be out 1/12/21.  You can pre-order the full digital single from our Web Store HERE at a pay-what-you-want price.  You'll get 'Way Too Heavy' right away and the B-side 'Felt The Sun' (or full single if you read this later on) on release day.  It will also be pay-what-you-want on our bandcamp HERE beginning 1/12/21 and 'Way Too Heavy' is streaming there now.  This is an early example of how we're trying to keep current with how folks support and listen to music.  We think this setup will work well, feel free to let us know what you think!  We're always at snappylittlenumbers@gmail.com. 2021 Is Here! We're turning 10 years old!

 

In case you missed it, we're gonna be making some fun changes for 2021.  We've already started with a revamp of our WEB STORE.  We're not done yet, but it's still fully operational while under construction.  The design has gotten a nice new facelift.  We're building a full artist roster section and have completed a full discography section.  We've condensed our offerings down to what's currently available so the site is faster to navigate.  We're adding preview tracks to our Web Store descriptions and we're now offering full digital releases of all 2021 titles (and onward) in our own Web Store as well as offering physical releases of all 2021 titles (and onward) on our bandcamp. That means that whether you buy from our Web Store or bandcamp, corresponding downloads will now be directly available instead of waiting for download codes to come in with your order.  With that, many of our releases will begin moving to pay-what-you-want for digital versions.  SLN friends and fans have always been generous, so we're just gonna trust everyone to find their balance of helping artists (and causes still) while maintaining a budget. More info on what else 2021 will bring is forthcoming, but this year will be our 10th Anniversary!  We have some cool plans for that. Oh! We've also learned how to use the "news" feature on our Web Store, so we'll be transitioning our updates to that over the next few months so you only have to go to one site for news, music and other paraphernalia. Thanks so much to all of our wonderful friends, fans and bands that supported all the social causes and small, local Denver-area independent businesses we raised funds for in 2020. Because of your generosity, we were able to donate more than $1,200 among all the various beneficiaries. We are a very small record label and the fact that so many people could come together over music to help their communities says a lot. So many hugs and many more thanks!

 

Also, we're gonna be making some fun changes for 2021.  We've already started with a revamp of our WEB STORE.  We're not done yet, but it's still fully operational while under construction.  We'll be adding more features and enhancements that will make it much easier to learn about and listen to our quality audio recordings and the talent that makes them.  More info on what else 2021 will bring will arrive in January, which will be our 10th Anniversary!  We have some cool plans for that.  Thanks again for following along and please enjoy whatever holiday-type break you get when you get it!

After a nicely received early digital launch, the new Charlie Continental "Be Much Better (feat. Daryl Wilson, Ella Sugar and The Calgary Family Singers)" Flexi Disc 7", is out now!  By now you've likely heard how this song came together and all the buddies that helped it become what it is.  'Be Much Better' is a slice of ska that still has the punk and pop pep that we've come to know and adore (tolerate?!) from a Charlie Continental tune. SLN-197 Shines Brightly!

The brand new Sunshine Satellite S/T EP, is out now!  This is the first release from the band, although they've been steadily playing over the last few years.  Sarah Heller is the captain of the ship, writing and singing short bursts of catchy punk energy.  Everything you hear on the EP is her, minus the drums which are expertly slammed by Tom Chagolla.  The results are concise and effective.  The EP comes on tastefully bright lime green cassette and a download code is included.  You can order a copy from our WEB STORE and if digital is your preference, it's on our BANDCAMP of course. 2020's Final Physical Duo Due Out Soon!

 

That's right dear readers, there are two physical releases left on the SLN calendar for 2020!  We're hyping them as a duo since they'll be sharing a physical release date.  First, we want to welcome Sunshine Satellite to the SLN stable of stars!  Sunshine Satellite is made up of singer, guitarist and songwriter Sarah Heller (formerly of Stoli & The Beers).  She can do it all (including bass on recordings) but chooses to leave the drumming up to her impressively skilled brother-in-law Tom Chagolla (currently of Native Daughters and Chap).  The results are compact, sleek, tuneful and pummeling.  Their S/T EP will be released on Cassette and Digital on 12/11/20.  Pre-order the cassette from our WEB STORE and listen to the single 'Fire Pretty' on our BANDCAMP SAMPLER. Next up is a fun entry from the "Punk Rock Jingle Machine", Charlie Continental, called "Be Much Better". A 7" Flexi Disc will be released on 12/11/20 and pre-orders for those are also in our  WEB STORE. The Digital version is already available right now! Find it on our BANDCAMP page and all the other digital-streaming places you like to rock and/or roll to. This time out, Charlie delivered a ska song with some extra vocal help from his buddies Daryl Wilson (The Bollweevils), Ella Sugar (his SPELLS bandmate) and The Calgary Family Singers (Jennifer is a longtime collaborator).  During the troubles of this past year, 'Be Much Better' is basically how Charlie channeled some frustrations about world events into a short little song. He’s always loved the unity message and energy of ska. 100% of every purchase/donation (both flexi and digital) will be donated to Black Lives Matter 5280, Black Lives Matter Chicago and Black Trans Femmes In The Arts.  Words cannot express his and his friends’ gratitude to all who listen, follow, share and help with their efforts. Surprise! V/A "Charlie Continental’s Community Tune Garden, Version 1.1" Is Out Now!

 

V/A "Charlie Continental's Community Tune Garden, Version 1.1" (SLN-191.1/HDBC-008) is out now! It's the second compilation featuring original songs recorded for a song-sharing project initiated by Chuck Coffey (aka Charlie Continental) based off of an idea by Rob Burleson (aka #3). Round 2 of the results have come in and the EP is comprised of excellent submissions from Joaquin Liebert (The Redemptions, The Risk, The Reckless Nights), Mortality (aka Jonathon- The Misfires, Signal To Trust) plus an alternate version of the aforementioned Charlie Continental's (SPELLS, Bad Year, Eyes & Ears) tune from the first comp.  The songs are neatly packaged as the second and final installment in our 2020 Hand Dubbed Buddies Club: ultra limited cassettes, hand dubbed, hand numbered and personalized. This year we changed things up by only producing HDBC cassettes for a short period, with a production duration ending one month after the initial release date. Consumers can choose either Gold or Gray tapes, no subscription required and either color will be numbered and personalized in green. Welcome Jiffy Marx! New 7" Single Due Out On 11/20/20!

 

We are thrilled to announce that Vancouver, BC, Canada's Jiffy Marx has joined the SLN roster!   For those in the know, Jiffy is also a member of Autogramm, a band that is no stranger to SLN.   Jiffy Marx was born in the winter of 1976 alongside the Ramones’ first album and the Damned’s “New Rose”. Mr. Marx has toured all over North America and Europe with a kitchen sink of bands such as Black Rice, Blood Meridian, Hard Drugs, Jiffy Marker and most recently Canadian new wave revivalists Autogramm (told ya so!). On hiatus from touring and while chipping away at Autogramm’s sophomore album, Marx took a weekend to visit his pals from Seattle’s Bread & Butter. Over the course of 36 hours they managed to drink a shit load of beer, eat a ton of peanut butter pretzels and track Jiffy’s first solo 45rpm single. “She’s My Witch / Warning Sign”, a double A-sider, sounds like classic 70s; more punk than Big Star and more pop than Buzzcocks. The release date for the 7" and digital is 11/20/20. Don't Worry About It! ZEPHR Has A New Album Coming Out In November!

ZEPHR began on a whim between three buddies, much like many other bands. But then that thing happened where it all clicked and they quickly became more than the sum of their parts. Each member contributes passion and ability in unison, and the result is nothing short of joy. You can hear it in their songs, and you can see it in their smiles when they play. On their debut full length, “Don’t Worry About It,” ZEPHR presents the listener with lean, melodic, punk rock tunes essenced with the earworms of powerpop, and the scrappiness of early 90’s indie rock. The record is both anthemic and intimate. It is gruff and also tender. Ultimately, it is something special. And we can all use a little more “special” in our lives right now.  "Don't Worry About It" is set to hit the streets on 11/13/20 and you can pre-order the vinyl LP in our WEB STORE right now (check out the limited art print edition!).  There are also cool new ZEPHR t-shirts, whiskey tumblers and koozies, plus an LP & Merchandise Super Saver Mega Bundle.  ZEPHR just released a new single from the album, 'Casey', today.  It's on our BANDCAMP as a digital single and also on our sampler, plus it's on ZEPHR's own bandcamp too.  'Casey' is also on all the other digital/streaming spots of the modern age.
